    On Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, Marcy Leavitt, branch chief of the Texas/New Mexico Regulatory Division in the District, was the recipient of the 2014 New Mexico Earth Science Achievement Award.
  • 2014 New Mexico Earth Science Achievement Awards

    The winners of the 2014 New Mexico Earth Science Achievement Awards were recently announced. This year the awards will go to Marcy L. Leavitt of the Albuquerque District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for outstanding contributions advancing the role of earth science in areas of public service and public policy in New Mexico, and to Dr. David S. Gutzler of the University of New Mexico for outstanding contributions advancing the role of earth science in areas of applied science and education in New Mexico.

    On Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, eight members of Girl Scout Troop 35 arrived at the Calabacillas Arroyo to help the Corps of Engineers and AMAFCA build habitat for burrowing owls.
  • Corps and other Government Agencies Partner for Urban Waters Middle Rio Grande Initiative

    On Dec. 11, 2013, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, along with several other government agencies, kicked off the Urban Waters Middle Rio Grande conservation initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to address both environmental justice and water quality issues in the Middle Rio Grande.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces closure of all Regulatory Offices due to federal government shutdown

    EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: All Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District Regulatory offices are closed due to the lapse in government funding. During this time, we are unable to evaluate individual permit applications, pre-construction notifications (PCNs) for nationwide permit (NWP) or regional general permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations. Work on these actions will proceed when the government reopens.
