  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducting debris removal at Vero Beach

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District is in the process of conducting debris removal operations at Vero Beach, Fla., under the Defense Environmental Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites program, Fort Pierce Naval Amphibious Training Base project. Contractor crews are working offshore to search for and remove underwater objects known as horned scullies.

  • FNOD Restoration Advisory Board meets March 7

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host its quarterly meeting of the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot, or FNOD, Restoration Advisory Board Thursday, March 7, from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at the Courtyard Marriott located at 8060 Harbour View Boulevard in Suffolk, Va.

  • Decision Documents signed for Pinecastle Jeep Range

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced that Decision Documents have been signed for three of four sections, or Munitions Response Sites (MRSs), of the former Pinecastle Jeep Range in Orlando, Fla.

  • Corps of Engineers to Conduct Open House

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an open house to present information on the upcoming Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study at the former Motlow Range, a Formerly Used Defense Site located near Tullahoma, Tenn. The open house will be on Thurs., Jan., 31 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Motlow State Community College in the Marcum Technology Center.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to continue fieldwork for its Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) at the Camp Gordon Johnston formerly used defense site into March 2013.

    A large munitions response site, coupled with heavy vegetation and hazardous wildlife, provided ideal conditions for Jacksonville District to use a helicopter magnetometer for initial fieldwork at the Avon Park Formerly Used Defense Site Sept. 28.
