  • Updated Lake Cumberland Shoreline Management Plan released

    SOMERSET, Ky. (March 20, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the release of the 2024 Lake Cumberland Shoreline Management Plan. This plan is a critical element to how the Corps manages more than 1,000 miles of shoreline created when Wolf Creek Dam impounded the waters of the Cumberland River, creating Lake Cumberland.

(March 12, 2024) – Park Ranger Tanner Rich received the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Ohio River Division’s Star of Life Award during a workshop here March 5, 2024, for his actions to assist and provide first aid to a severely injured woman at Lake Cumberland during the 2023 recreation season.

In fact, the first GPS satellite was not launched until 1978. How in the world did thousands and thousands of visitors find their way to the shores of Lake Cumberland? They followed the signs.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 5, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces construction at Kendall Campground and Day Use Area, including its boat ramp and roadway along the riverside campground, is nearing completion. These areas are expected to re-open by the end of September 2023.
