    USACE Sacramento District is using building information modeling (BIM) and virtual reality (VR) to help project teams visualize infrastructure designs before construction begins. By allowing engineers, customers and contractors to experience projects at true scale, the technology improves spatial understanding, identifies design conflicts earlier, strengthens collaboration and helps reduce costly changes during construction. The approach supports USACE’s efforts to leverage technology to deliver quality infrastructure safely, on time and within budget.

    Designed and erected after historic 1951 floods and tested by modern ones, the Soldier Creek Diversion project quietly reduces flood risk to communities in and around Topeka, Kansas. Every five years, a multidisciplinary team from the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, walks the project searching for small problems before they become big ones. This is part of an ongoing partnership with local officials that helps ensure the nearly 70-year-old infrastructure continues safeguarding lives and property for generations to come.

  • USACE, U.S. Air Force partners fortify Malmstrom national defense with ‘Gateway to Sentinel’ groundbreaking

    U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers leaders celebrated a project groundbreaking May 28, 2026 at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. The project will serve as the “gateway” for future modernization efforts to the installation’s Minuteman III ICBM arsenal. The Commercial Entrance Control Facility has a simple but strategic purpose: enable easier and direct access for contractors and heavy construction machinery to Sentinel-related construction sites around the installation.

They don’t have to demand recognition of their status or demand obedience from their subordinates, and they aren’t motivated by the number of awards they can hang on their walls. Occasionally, a leader is simply recognized and respected because of their calm and quiet way of offering advice and providing mentorship or direction. They look for opportunities to help. They ask the right questions and make those around them feel heard and seen by listening.     The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Japan Engineer District (JED) strengthened its commitment to construction excellence and quality assurance during their Construction Division’s recent “C3 Conference,” a three-day event held at the Camp Zama Community Club that brought together professionals from across the district and beyond. The conference - short for Construction, Contracting, and Counsel - served as a focused forum for collaboration, training, and alignment among JED personnel responsible for delivering high-quality infrastructure in support of U.S. Forces Japan.
