Corps announces approval of a planned deviation from Lake O Regulation Schedule to reduce risk from Harmful Algal Blooms

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District, announces the approval of a planned deviation from the water control plan for Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades Agricultural Area, also known as the Lake Okeechobee Regulation Schedule (LORS 2008), in order to reduce risk from Harmful Algal Blooms.

Corps announces public scoping meetings and public comment for Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces two public scoping meetings and the opening of the public scoping comment period for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Feasibility Study. Public scoping comments are due October 1, 2020.

Col. Jason Kelly takes command of South Atlantic Division

On June 22nd, Col. Jason Kelly assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division. Col. Kelly assumed command from Maj. Gen. Diana Holland at a ceremony in Atlanta, Ga., where he will serve as the commander for a region that includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Puerto Rico.

Col. Kelly on Lake Okeechobee: balancing project purposes

One of the challenges we face at the Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is balancing all of the purposes of managing Lake Okeechobee given to us by Congress – flood control, water supply, navigation, recreation, and preservation of fish and wildlife resources. As we enter rainy season, we will keep focusing on balancing the purposes of lake water management and setting favorable conditions.

TAD’s senior civilian earns Presidential Rank Award

When President Donald Trump recognized 141 members of the Federal Government’s Senior Executive Service by presenting them with the annual Presidential Rank Award on Dec. 17, 2019, Alvin “Al” Lee, the Transatlantic Division’s Director of Programs and Business, was among the list of 30 recipients earning the “Distinguished Executives” award – one of only four Department of the Army members receiving the recognition. The Presidential Rank Award is the top award a civilian Federal employee can receive.

Army Corps Announces Administrative Fee Changes

Beginning January 1, 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division, will implement a revised administrative fee schedule resulting in a total cost of $835 for a dock and land based facilities at its reservoirs and along certain federal waterways in the Southeastern United States.

Tilly, a program manager with the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was making final plans in September for a promised road trip he and his wife, Jeanne, of 35 years, would take to Acadia National Park in Maine, and a week-long retreat to Hocking Hills in southeastern Ohio.
