    Blasting work will tentatively begin on the construction site of the new Louisville VA Medical Center Friday, Feb. 4. It’s expected to occur daily between 2 and 2:30 p.m. daily and continue through April 2022.
  • Contract Awarded for Largest Overseas U.S. Military Hospital

    The contract to build the largest U.S. hospital outside the United States has been signed, marking a significant step forward in progressing the Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center Replacement (ROBMCR) project. The German Construction Administration, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District and the U.S. Defense Health Agency, awarded a €859 million (approximately $969 million) contract to Züblin and Gilbane Joint Venture to construct a new hospital at Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Germany.
  • Construction contract awarded for new Louisville VA Hospital

    The Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, will build a new 104 bed, full-service hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. An $840 million contract was awarded to Walsh-Turner Joint Venture II headquartered in Chicago, Illinois on Aug. 17, 2021 to construct the new hospital, which will replace the existing Robley Rex VA Medical Center.
  • Bowser Administration, U.S. Army Corps Announce Set-Up of DC Convention Center into Alternate Care Facility

    In coordination with the Bowser Administration, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has issued a design/build contract to Hensel Phelps Construction Co. to convert the Walter E. Washington Convention Center into an alternate care facility to support the District’s response to coronavirus (COVID-19). The goal is to never need to use the Convention Center, but by the first week of May, 500 beds will be ready.
  • Army Corps inspects facilities across DC, Maryland and Pennsylvania for potential care site conversion

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is performing site inspections across Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia to support a nationwide FEMA mission assignment to convert existing large spaces into alternate care sites to augment COVID-19 response efforts.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards design-build contract to JE Dunn Construction Company for the Fort Leonard Wood Hospital Replacement project

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded JE Dunn Construction Company, 1001 Locust St, Kansas City, Mo. 64106, a $295,974,160 design-build contract for the construction of Hospital Replacement facilities that will be built on Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. As the construction agent for Defense Health Agency, the Kansas City District is responsible for the design, construction and delivery of these facilities.
  • Omaha District Fiscal Year 2018 year in review

    The Aurora VA Medical Center, USSTRATCOM and the Missouri River Recovery Program Environmental Impact Statement are among the many significant accomplishments for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District in 2018. The District closed out the fiscal year on September 30 with a $1.29 billion program, one of the largest the district has ever managed.
