    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 26, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Defeated Creek Day Use Swim Beach in Carthage, Tennessee, as well as Roaring River Swim Beach in Gainesboro, Tennessee, on Cordell Hull Lake have reopened as water conditions have returned to acceptable levels.
  • NR 22-09: Cordell Hull Lake closes swim beaches

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of Defeated Creek Day Use Swim Beach in Carthage, Tennessee, as well as Roaring River Swim Beach in Gainesboro, Tennessee, at Cordell Hull Lake. These closures are due to high bacteria levels in the water, presumably attributed to low lake levels, recent heavy rain, and runoff from adjacent farms.
  • Nashville District completes Gate City Floodplain Management Services Study

    GATE CITY, Va. (April 19, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District recently completed a Floodplain Management Services Special Study of Little Moccasin Creek and Big Moccasin Creek, which evaluated the continual flooding of surrounding areas of Grogan Park and Old Nickelsville Highway in Gate City, Virginia.

(April 5, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District provided an “ESCAPE” last week for employees called upon to answer phones, complete personnel actions, update training records, manage equipment accounts, purchase supplies, coordinate travel, input time and attendance, and other administrative tasks in their work centers.
