  • USACE Transatlantic Division supports Typhoon Mawar disaster relief

    A staff member assigned to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division was activated and sent to Guam from June until July to assist FEMA, federal partners and territorial officials’ response to the typhoon which caused significant impacts to essential services throughout portions of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam, including water, energy and transportation.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 11, 2023) – Old Hickory Lock Operator Anthony Certeza recently deployed to Guam in the aftermath of Typhoon Mawar, which devastated his native island in late May. He performed home inspections and literally assisted his own parents who lost power and needed his help.
  • RISEUP Program Launches to Help Temporarily Repair Metal Roofs

    GUAM - The U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in coordination with the Office of the Governor, Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Mayor’s Council of Guam, have launched the Roofing Installation Support Emergency Utilization Program (RISEUP) to help temporarily repair metal roofs damaged by Typhoon Mawar.
