  • NR 22-09: Cordell Hull Lake closes swim beaches

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of Defeated Creek Day Use Swim Beach in Carthage, Tennessee, as well as Roaring River Swim Beach in Gainesboro, Tennessee, at Cordell Hull Lake. These closures are due to high bacteria levels in the water, presumably attributed to low lake levels, recent heavy rain, and runoff from adjacent farms.
  • Temporary lock closures to begin May 9 at Brandon Road Lock on the Illinois Waterway

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will begin daytime closures of the Brandon Road Lock located in Joliet, Illinois, beginning May 9 to facilitate installation of bulkhead recesses which will later be used to perform critical maintenance on the lock in 2023.
  • Corps delays opening of Ashtabula campground due to weather

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will delay the opening of campground facilities at Lake Ashtabula due to snowpack into late April and continued cold weather forecasts for the next 10 days.
  • Sutton Lake Day-Use Fee Collection Begins May 1

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Collection of day-use fees will begin for the season at Sutton Lake on May 1, 2022. The fee amount will remain the same as in the past. However, we will only accept credit card payments going forward - no cash will be collected or accepted.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Dworshak Dam is looking for individuals or couples to serve as volunteers for the summer season. There are two types of positions open: Janitorial/Grounds Maintenance Volunteers at Dworshak Visitor Center and Dent Acres Campground, and Fee Collection/Customer Service Volunteers at Dent Acres.
  • USACE reopens several visitor center doors in the Heartland

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is pleased to announce the re-opening of several visitor centers to the public, with consideration for local health conditions, access is subject to change. Facilities have primarily operated on an appointment-only basis since Spring of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask visitors to follow safety precautions which may be posted on entry doors.
  • Raystown Lake Announces Gate Opening for Spring Turkey Season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, announces the opening of Gate 28 on High Germany Road (Nancy's Camp Service Road) at Raystown Lake to begin Saturday, April 23, through Tuesday, May 31, for spring turkey season.
