    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (Nov. 12, 2015) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District celebrated the opening of the resource manager’s office and the lock master’s offices at Cheatham Dam today nearly five years after the May 2010 flood damaged the office space, lock master’s facility and supply buildings.

    WASHINGTON (Sept. 2, 2015) – President Obama, with the support of the Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation to include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced today the start of a new initiative to give every child in the United States the chance to explore and learn about America’s great outdoors. The Every Kid in a Park initiative will provide all fourth grade students and their families with free admission for a full year to more than 2,000 federally-managed sites nationwide.

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (May 28, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering public access to Cheatham Navigation Lock. The lock is open to visitors seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from now until Sept. 8, 2015.
  • NR 15-10: Corps offers tours of Cordell Hull Dam Power Plant and Lock

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 8, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering the public free guided tours of Cordell Hull Power Plant and Lock located in Carthage, Tenn. Not all portions of the dam will be accessible to the public due to safety concerns. Approximately 45 minutes in length, tours are scheduled on June 13 and July 11, with the tour beginning at 10 a.m. both days.

  • Corps of Engineers waives day use fees for vets on Veterans Day

    WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is waiving day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at more than 2,200 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. This includes areas the Nashville District operates within the Cumberland River Basin.
