    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District is scheduled to host a “Kids to Parks/Safe Kids Day” May 18, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Galt’s Ferry Day Use Area on Allatoona Lake in Acworth, Georgia. Co-sponsored by Safe Kids Cherokee County and the National Park Trust, this event will provide participants an opportunity to learn about recreation safety with a variety of activities.

    MOBILE, Ala. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District, West Point Project Management Office’s Visitor Center will begin its summer operations schedule on Saturday April 2, 2016 through September 25, 2016. Hours of operations will be 8 am – 4:30pm EST, seven days a week.

    MOBILE, Ala. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District announced today shoreline management changes. This change impacts property owners on USACE projects throughout the Southeast. It brings shoreline management regulations into compliance with federal law. The laws directing the construction of the dams and reservoirs – laws dating to the 1940s – never authorized irrigation, in any amount, as a project purpose.

    MOBILE, Ala. - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that beginning Jan. 1, 2016, the recreation day use fees charged for boat launches and swimming beaches managed by USACE will change to a simpler fee structure. The fee for a USACE annual pass to these facilities will also change.
  • Army Corps of Engineers supports new “Every Kid in a Park” recreation initiative

    WASHINGTON (September 2, 2015) – President Obama, with the support of the Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation to include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced today the start of a new initiative to give every child in the United States the chance to explore and learn about America’s great outdoors. The Every Kid in a Park initiative will provide all fourth grade students and their families with free admission for a full year to more than 2,000 federally-managed sites nationwide.
  • The National Championship Rowing Regatta is being considered at Lake Sidney Lanier on Memorial Day Weekend

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District is considering a request from the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) for special consideration to hold the National Championship Regatta on Memorial Day weekend at the Clark’s Bridge Olympic Rowing Venue, Lake Sidney Lanier. USACE may give special consideration to this event based on the design and purpose of the area where the event is proposed to occur.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces Lake Lanier Dock Permits return

    MOBILE, Ala.-- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers(USACE), Mobile District announces that Lake Sidney Lanier has completed the dock lottery process begun in 2009. After completion of the lottery it was determined that additional permits may be issued. The Shoreline Management Section at Lake Lanier will begin accepting requests for new dock permits on September 16, 2014.
