  • Many Celebrate Completion of Bois Brule Levee Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, leadership held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the closeout of the Bois Brule Levee Deficiency Correction Project Dec. 6, that provides resilient infrastructure for flood risk reduction within the 26,000 acres of agricultural lands, commercial businesses and homes in the area protected by the levee. Ongoing efforts led by St. Louis District’s interdisciplinary project delivery team with support from the project sponsor, the Bois Brule Levee Drainage and Levee District, have corrected underseepage and inadequate levee grade issues along the Bois Brule levee in Perry County, Missouri, and Randolph County, Illinois, located on the right descending bank of the Upper Mississippi River between river miles 94 and 111.

    In a collaborative effort with leaders from all levels of government as well as other important partners, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers joined the village of Dixmoor today to celebrate the completion of a crucial infrastructure project: the replacement of Dixmoor’s aging water main system. This project, made possible through the combined efforts of several levels of government and the Corps of Engineers Chicago District, is a significant step toward ensuring safe, reliable water access for the village’s residents.

  • New housing towers open at Camp Humphreys, celebrating legacy and sustainability

    With the snip of nine pairs of scissors, the U.S. Army opened three new housing towers on U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, South Korea, Sep. 13, 2024. Representatives from the installation, families moving into the buildings, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District and Eighth Army joined to open the doors of the towers and dedicate them to three Medal of Honor recipients.

  • Army engineers finish fourth Army family housing tower in Daegu, South Korea

    For service members looking for a home away from home, a new family housing tower on Camp Walker will provide just that in South Korea. Representatives from the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, 8th Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District, U.S. Army Garrison – Daegu, and the first family to live in the tower participated in ribbon cutting to commemorate the facility opening on Feb. 29, 2024.

  • Ribbon Cutting for new Riverlands greenhouse at Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rivers Project Office will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 29, at 10 a.m. for a new greenhouse at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in West Alton, Missouri. The Riverlands Greenhouse will grow thousands of native plants annually to support prairie and pollinator habitat enhancement and restoration as well as outreach and education programs in the greater St. Louis and Confluence region.
