    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Bell Road across J. Percy Priest Dam is closing 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, for a routine inspection.
  • Contract awarded for Old River Low Sill Control Structure Dewatering

    New Orleans, La. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, awarded a $34.2 million contract to McMillen, Inc. of Boise, ID for construction of a steel system to allow dewatering of the Old River Low Sill Control Structure. Dewatering is scheduled to occur in late summer and fall of 2024 when the river is traditionally at low water stages.
  • Utqiagvik coastal erosion project achieves major federal milestone

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District conducted a ceremonial signing event Aug. 29 recognizing the official agreement between stakeholders for the planned construction of the Barrow Coastal Erosion Project near Utqiagvik. Sen. Dan Sullivan and North Slope Borough representatives attended the event and provided remarks at the district headquarters building located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
  • USACE issues permit authorizing California wildfire mitigation activities in waters of the United States

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued Regional General Permit (RGP) 10, authorizing activities associated with wildfire mitigation that may involve discharge of dredged or fill material into waters of the United States and/or work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States, including wetlands, within the State of California. The issuance of RGP10 authorizes activities that fall within the following seven categories: (1) Utility Lines and Associated Infrastructure; (2) Access Areas; (3) Temporary Dewatering; (4) Sediment and Debris Management; (5) Damaged Uplands; (6) Fire/Fuel Breaks; and (7) Development Structures.

    Researchers from 10 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Districts have been selected for the 2023 session of the Engineer Research and Development Center University (ERDC-U). Ian Markovich, a biologist with the Jacksonville District, was chosen to participate in this detail program.
  • Army Corps releases draft report for Eastwick Flood Risk Management Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced the release of a draft report for the Eastwick Flood Risk Management Study. The draft report outlines a ‘Tentatively Selected Plan,’ which includes an approximately 1400-foot levee along the left bank of Cobbs Creek within the Eastwick Regional Park and Clearview Landfill. The levee plan is designed to reduce the risk of flood damages to homes, property, and public infrastructure.

    ROGERS, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Project Office has reopened the swim beach at Dam Site Lake Day Use Area. Bacteria levels are now within the acceptable range which allows the swim beach to reopen.
