    BUXTON, N.C. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, has completed its Summary Report of site visits occurring from September 2023 through February 2024 on a section of shoreline in Buxton, N.C., at the former U.S. Navy facility.

  • Installation of Wayside Exhibits at Wappapello Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake invites you to come out and see some of the new interpretive wayside exhibits that have been recently installed. These exhibits are located along the Lake View Trail near the culverts on T Highway, Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center, Eagle Point Overlook, south end of the dam, fish cleaning station parking area, and the pollinator garden at the Greenhouse. The Lake View Trail runs from Redman Creek Campground East and along the dam and connects to Peoples Creek Recreation Area. This multi-use trail is paved and available for walkers, runners, and cyclists.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – In advance of the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, Lake Ouachita, Lake Greeson and DeGray Lake are expecting HIGH visitation. Facilities will be impacted with full parking lots in the campgrounds, boat rams and day use parking lots. We are urging visitors coming to any of these lakes to carpool and minimize multiple vehicles per party.

    Washington State University (WSU) students in Pullman can expect to hear sounds of new construction at the former Johnson Hall site, as the next phase of its replacement begins spring 2024. The new ARS Plant Sciences Building will house scientists from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and WSU and support the next generational of agricultural research in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Approach for On-Site, On-Demand Contaminant-Removal Devices Enabled by Low-Cost 3D Printing

    Purpose: The purpose of this technical note is to disseminate methods to design and create a 3D device that could be used to determine relative toxicity potential of existing and emerging contaminants of concern in situ for sediment shoaled in federal navigation channels prior to being dredged. This device has the potential to reduce the cost of conventional sediment evaluations conducted prior to dredging operations.

    A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor began hauling debris from commercial properties impacted by the Aug. 8, 2023, wildfires in the town of Lahaina, Hawai’i, March 22. This begins Phase 2 of the debris removal process that includes removal of remaining structural ash and debris, as well as soil testing.
