    Spill operations remain restricted at Albeni Falls Dam in Oldtown, Idaho, while U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ officials respond to the discovery of base metal flaws and defects identified on a spillway gate undergoing rehabilitation. The flaws were discovered in April 2024 as part of a major gate rehabilitation contract initiated in June 2023.

  • Major work completed at Lock and Dam 2

    There is major work happening at Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, performs rehabilitative work on each of the district’s 13 locks and dams on the Upper Mississippi River every 15-20 years. This year, it was time for Lock and Dam 2, in Hastings, Minnesota, to be dewatered for the first time since 2007. The Corps closed Lock 2 on Dec. 4, 2023, to complete the necessary work by a target date of March 5.
  • USACE Jacksonville District issues scoping letter for the Central Everglades Planning Project North Phase

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, is preparing a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessment to support design refinements being considered in the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) North Phase Validation Study. The purpose of the CEPP North Phase Validation Study is to confirm project components, construction sequencing, and project dependencies as described in the 2014 CEPP Final Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement (PIR/EIS) and Chief's Report. In addition, the Validation Study will also validate that the proposed design refinements are necessary for the CEPP North project components to function as originally intended and determine if the refinements require additional NEPA.
