    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it will continue its support of President Obama’s initiative Every Kid in a Park pass program, which officially begins its second year today.   • Public meetings scheduled to discuss Cherry Creek Dam studies

    Three public meetings to provide an update on the status of two studies taking place at Cherry Creek Dam are scheduled for the week of September 20. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host meetings to provide a status update on alternatives under consideration to address risks from extreme storm events associated with Cherry Creek Dam including a study to modify the dam’s water control plan.

  • Third highest inflows ever recorded lift Wilson Lake out of five-year slump

    The third highest inflows ever recorded at a river gage upstream of Wilson Lake raised the water level by almost seven feet, helping the lake replenish from the effects of a five-year drought. Heavy rains from a Sept. 2 storm produced inflows at the Saline River gage north of Russell, Kan. of nearly 23,000 cubic feet per second. This brought the lake to 1.28 feet above the normal water level, and one foot above the seasonal water level management plan target.
