    Army Corps contractor begins moving equipment to Moriches Inlet

    NEW YORK -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor Weeks Marine Inc., of Cranford, N.J. has begun before-dredging surveys of the Moriches Inlet and bay. The first of three tug-boat shipments of submergible pipe has arrived on August 25, 2018. Two more shipments of equipment are scheduled to arrive within the next couple of weeks, which all together will comprise the needed five-mile pipeline.

    Draft EA for Medina, North Dakota water and sewer infrastructure improvements available for comment

    A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to improve the existing water and sewer infrastructure for the city of Medina, North Dakota, is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of replacing deteriorated water and sanitary sewer infrastructure on a city-wide basis.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded an $89,974,550 contract to Kiewit Manson Construction, of Vancouver, Washington, for replacement and upgrade of the Wharf 2 project for container crane operations at Military Ocean Terminal (MOTCO) in Concord.

    18-096 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Labor Day holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    LOWER SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – If your upcoming Labor Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced. Lower Granite Lock and Dam, near Pomeroy, Wash., will be open for public vehicle crossings during the holiday weekend, offering extended hours – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. – on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1 and 2. On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3, Lower Granite will be open for crossings and return to its non-summer schedule, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily.

    Corps to begin dredging at Oceanside Harbor

    The Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District plans to dredge Oceanside Harbor this fall. Manson Construction, the Corps’ contractor, will begin the work in October after environmental restrictions – which include dredging during the California least tern nesting season – have ended.
