Hurricane Ida Response FEMA Camp
In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, finding places to stay is an issue for first responders from various federal agencies. One solution FEMA is developing is the construction of a base camp. The camp is intended to be equipped with sleeping trailers designed to hold six same-sex responders, but due to COVID 19, FEMA is reducing the number of occupants to two. In addition to berthing, the camp will have showers, toilets, and dining facilities. Col. Zachary Miller, commander of the USACE Hurricane Ida Response, visited the camp Sept. 5, 2021.
