Phase 1 of the project completed emergency bank paving and repairs at the Island 18 Dike and Dyer County Little Levee. Phase 2 completed top of bank restoration work, Phase 3 completed the Island 18 Closure Dike work, Phase 4 completed Island 18 Dike #2 work, and Phase 5 will place additional rip-rap bank paving and in the process remedy new scouring occurring along the river bank. The five phases culminate in restoring this reach of the Mississippi River navigation channel and restoring the adjacent damaged overbank area to pre-flood levels of protection and helping to reduce risk to the flood risk management system.
