  • Corps continues legacy of dredging at Port of Alaska

    All summer long, a crimson and white boat moves back and forth through the waters near the Port of Alaska collecting silt, sand and gravel off the seafloor to allow vessels to navigate the harbor in Anchorage. The boat is a dredging vessel called the Westport, operated by Manson Construction of Seattle, Wash., which the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District contracted to maintain the mooring areas for the past three years.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a maintenance dredging contract for the Jacksonville Harbor. Work includes maintenance dredging 38- and 40-foot projects, Cut-7 through Cut -45, Cut-55, Cut-G, and the Lower Terminal Channel, in Duval County.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the Tampa Harbor Maintenance Dredging contract award of $3,609,509.37 to Coastal Dredging Company, Inc., of Hammond, Louisiana. Work includes dredging the Alafia River channel and turning basin, and the Manatee Harbor entrance channel and turning basin.

  • Corps posts Miami Harbor channel-side assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the release and posting of the Miami Harbor Deepening Project one-year post-construction assessment for hard-bottom middle and outer reef benthic communities. The report includes data relevant to an assessment of temporary and permanent project effects at channel-side sites as per the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permit conditions for construction.

  • Palm Beach Harbor channel maintenance starts soon

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that maintenance operations on Palm Beach Harbor (Lake Worth Inlet) will start early next week and continue through mid-April. The work includes placing all dredged materials on the beach immediately south of the southern jetty, extending the beach seaward approximately 60 feet.
