NR 15-031: Conley Bottom Resort dedicated as a Clean Marina

NASHVILLE, TENN., (Sept. 9, 2015) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District supports marina operators and owners who are voluntarily striving to protect the water resources of the Cumberland River Basin by going “clean and green” such as Conley Bottom Resort in Monticello, Ky. On Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, the Corps, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Cumberland River Compact, and Conley Bottom Resort will celebrate the marina receiving their new flag to designate them as a “Clean Marina.”

Corps begins hydropower rehabilitation at Center Hill Dam

LANCASTER, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2015) – Disassembly of hydropower unit two is about to get underway at Center Hill Dam, which is the first of 28 units in the Cumberland River Basin to be rehabilitated as a result of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Southeastern Power Administration and power customers signed in August 2011 that provided a funding stream for the work.

NR 15-030: Corps of Engineers supports new ‘Every Kid in a Park’ recreation initiative

WASHINGTON (Sept. 2, 2015) – President Obama, with the support of the Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation to include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced today the start of a new initiative to give every child in the United States the chance to explore and learn about America’s great outdoors. The Every Kid in a Park initiative will provide all fourth grade students and their families with free admission for a full year to more than 2,000 federally-managed sites nationwide.

Wilson reaches 40-year milestone onboard Motor Vessel Mississippi

Forum empowers Corps of Engineers

Summer ranger proves to be great asset at Center Hill Lake

LANCASTER, Tenn. (Aug. 6, 2015) – Each summer Corps of Engineers park rangers go into overdrive with boat patrols, programs and events, supervision of recreation areas, shoreline management, and overall assistance to lake visitors. The many responsibilities can be overwhelming, but this year the load is lightened at Center Hill Lake thanks to the outstanding work of a summer ranger.

Juliet High School in Mt. Juliet, Tenn.

NR 15-027: Open house set on board Motor Vessel Mississippi in Chattanooga

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 31, 2015) – The public is invited to an open house on board the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI when it is docked at Ross’s Landing in Chattanooga from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. The vessel is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ largest diesel towboat and flagship to the Mississippi River Commission, which is inspecting Tennessee Valley Authority and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District projects along the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers as part of the commission’s annual low water inspection trip.
