Corps finds no evidence of damage at Isabella Lake Dam following nearby earthquake
Inspections of Isabella Lake Dam have found no evidence of damage or increased likelihood of dam failure following a 4.3-magnitude earthquake that hit July 24 at 9:46 a.m. approximately 20 miles southeast of the dam.

Corps upgrades Natomas levee maintenance rating
Natomas levees are eligible for federal rehabilitation assistance again after levee managers for Reclamation District No. 1000 fixed the most serious items identified in a recent levee inspection and the Corps approved a letter of intent to deal with remaining encroachments and vegetation issues over time.

District to hold meetings about Martis Creek Lake and Dam master plan
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will host public meetings July 29 and July 30 seeking input to update Martis Creek Lake and Dam’s master plan, which guides the management of natural and cultural resources and development of recreation-related facilities in and around the Corps-managed reservoir near Truckee.

Colonel William J. Leady relinquished command of the Sacramento District to Col. Michael J. Farrell in a ceremony at the Masonic Temple in Sacramento, Calif., July 10, 2013. Farrell is the district’s 31st commander since its inception in 1929.

Corps to outline Sutter Basin feasibility study at public meeting
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will host a public meeting July 22 at the Sutter County Veteran’s Hall in Yuba City to outline and accept comments on its draft feasibility report and environmental document for the Sutter Basin Pilot Feasibility Study.

Truckee Meadows Flood Control Project nears study completion
The federal plan to reduce flood risk along the Truckee River near Reno, Nev., moved closer to reality this month as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District released its draft report and environmental impact statement for the Truckee Meadows Flood Control Project.

Corps releases inspection ratings for seven Delta levee systems
Inspections by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District rated maintenance of five rural levee systems in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta as unacceptable, and rated maintenance of two additional Delta levee systems as minimally acceptable.
