Sustainability

Broadly, “sustainability” is the capacity to endure; i.e. the ability to sustain. When applied to buildings, it refers to the ability to sustain not just itself, but its users, its community, and the ecology of its environment. On this page you will find resources to related enhancing a building’s sustainability by reducing the energy and resources it consumes during it’s useful life cycle; construction through operation. Also, to enhance the sustainability of its community by minimizing long term adverse effects on the local ecology, and by providing users of the building a healthful and productive environment in which to live, work, or play.
