WASHINGTON, D.C. — Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Dorko, Deputy Commanding General for Military and International Operations for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers addresses USACE Soldiers and civilian employees gather at the headquarters building, June 16, 2011 for the Engineer Regimental Muster Ceremony celebrating the 236th Army Engineer birthday. During the ceremony the USACE staff had a moment of silence for the 346 fallen Engineers since OEF/OIF. The Muster roll is a register of the officers and men in a military unit or ship's company. In the broadest terms the Muster is a gathering for service, review, inspection or roll call. In American, the Military Muster dates back to 1637 when there was no organized or standing army. The Muster was a periodic gathering of local militia during which all able-bodied free males reported to a central location to be enrolled or answer the roll call and receive training.
