  • USACE Galveston District awards $12.2M contract for Texas City repairs

    GALVESTON, Texas (February 19, 2020) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District (USACE Galveston) has awarded a contract in the amount of $12,221,180 to Pontchartrain Partners, LLC., for repair of damage to the Texas City Hurricane Flood Protection Project caused by Hurricane Harvey.

  • Vicksburg District provides updated forecast for region - Feb. 18

    VICKSBURG, Miss. -- The National Weather Service has forecasted two-to-four inches of rain across most of the Lower Mississippi River Valley over the next seven days. The Mississippi River is expected to crest at Arkansas City, Arkansas, at 39 feet Feb. 25; Greenville, Mississippi, at 50.5 feet Feb. 26; Vicksburg, Mississippi, at 47 feet Feb. 27; and Natchez, Mississippi, at 54.5 feet Feb. 29. These projections are based on two days of forecasted rainfall and will change based on future rainfall.

  • Sardis, Grenada lakes cancel Fish Habitat Day events due to high water

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s Sardis and Grenada lakes have canceled their Fish Habitat Day events scheduled for Feb. 22 and 29, respectively. The events have been canceled due to increased lake elevations from recent rainfall. Flood control structures at Sardis, Grenada and Enid lakes, three of the district’s four flood control reservoirs in the Yazoo Basin, were closed Feb. 10 to store excess rainfall, or runoff. The reservoirs’ gates are expected to open within the next three-to-five days.

  • Enid Lake announces annual Cleanup Day event

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s Enid Lake and the Enid Lake Volunteers for Waste Management will hold the lake’s annual Cleanup Day event Feb. 22, which will provide volunteers an opportunity to help maintain the beauty of the lake.
