National Levee Safety

These web pages present a history of the work of the National Committee on Levee Safety, including a record of meetings, workshops, information sessions, and testimony before Congress.

Meetings

The National Committee on Levee Safety met during an intense period between October 2008 and January 2009 to develop its findings and 20 recommendations for a National Levee Safety Program. These were presented in a draft Report to Congress in January 2009.

Since September 2009 the NCLS has met, approximately quarterly, to lay the groundwork for the implementation of their recommendations and develop a strategic plan for implementing a National Levee Safety Program.
