NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct another round of aerial mosquito treatment Monday over federal property on Craney Island.
Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Eastern Aviation LLC – the district’s contractor – will spray granular larvicide to target developing mosquito larvae in the area. If weather conditions don’t allow spraying, the makeup date is Tuesday.
The contractor will use an Air Tractor, a fixed-wing aircraft similar to a dust cropper, to conduct the mosquito-larvicide treatment.
There’s no need for beekeepers in affected areas to take special precautions, officials said, as the chemical used does not affect bees.
