• CORPS SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR CLEANUP AT GILLHAM LAKE

    GILLHAM, Ark. – Gilliam Lake will host a shoreline cleanup as part of the Great Arkansas Cleanup, on September 14, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cleanup will be held in cooperation with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas State Parks, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and many other government and local agencies.
  • Portions of Abiquiu Lake reopened

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today that the lake has reopened except for swimming along the Cerrito Recreation Area shoreline. Open areas include the boat ramp and land areas within the Cerrito Day-Use Recreation Area. However, the swim beach is still closed and swimming along the Cerrito shoreline is not allowed due to the presence of a toxic blue-green algae bloom.

Ivan Beckman conducted an Anti-Terrorism Awareness Proclamation Signing event August 5, 2019, to kick off Anti-Terrorism Awareness Month at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. The event was coordinated with Warren Grant, ERDC security officer and level II anti-terrorism officer.
  • Mississippi River Commission to host public meeting at Vicksburg city front

    VICKSBURG, Miss. -- The Mississippi River Commission will host a public meeting aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI Aug. 21 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the city front in Vicksburg. This meeting is open to the public. Interested parties are invited to present their views on matters affecting the water resources infrastructure needs in the valley, including flood control, the Mississippi River and Tributaries project and other water resources challenges.

    MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division responded to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District Aug. 14, 2019, with test results of Allatoona Lake, addressing recent public concern about harmful algal blooms.
  • Corps extends comment period on proposed LORS deviation

    The Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District is extending the comment period for a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a proposed deviation to the Lake Okeechobee Regulation Schedule (LORS) 2008. The new deadline for comments is Sept. 5, 2019, providing the public an additional 15 days to review and comment on the proposed deviation that will provide the agency additional water management flexibility at Lake Okeechobee to help address harmful algae blooms (HABs).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is preparing the public for the release of the draft Raystown Lake Master Plan in the late fall through a series of master plan updates.

    After 292 days, water levels along the Mississippi River have dropped below 11 feet at the Carrollton Gage prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to close out flood fight efforts.
  • Access to Abiquiu Lake closed due to blue-green algae

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today that effective immediately the Cerrito Day-Use Recreation Area, at Abiquiu Lake, N.M., including the boat ramp and the swim beach, are closed after tests showed the presence of a blue-green algae bloom in the reservoir.
