    Dredging Starts on the Ouachita-Black River, Columbia Lock, Dam Opens to Commercial Traffic

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District, in coordination with the USACE St. Paul District, is deploying the Dredge Dubuque to perform critical dredging on the Ouachita-Black River in Louisiana starting in late August. The dredge will remove shoaling in the navigation channel caused by significant high-water events on the Ouachita-Black River during 2019. This effort will allow the waterway to remain open to commercial navigation.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 16, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of Ragland Bottom Day Use Beach at Center Hill Lake in Smithville, Tenn., due to E.coli detected in the water. Buzzards are suspected and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Service technicians have been contacted for support.

    HILLSDALE, Kan.— The U.S Army Corps of Engineers at Hillsdale Lake are teaming up with National Public Lands Day and Hillsdale State Park to host a Hillsdale Lake Cleanup Event on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. Individuals and groups are encouraged to participate and can register by contacting the Corps of Engineers at Hillsdale Lake.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will host a public scoping meeting to solicit comments and information from the public regarding flood impacts in DeSoto County, Mississippi. The public scoping meeting will be held from 5 until 7 on August 29, 2019 at the County Road Department, 2373 Gwynn Road, Nesbit, Mississippi 38651. A similar meeting was held on December 5, 2018 to gather information on areas where flooding has occurred in the past.
