The Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 annual report for the U.S. Army Regional Environmental and Energy Offices (REEOs) is now available.
The REEOs represent Army and Department of Defense (DOD) environmental and energy interests at the state and regional level to support and advocate for military missions and facilities. They accomplish this by ensuring close coordination between military and regional policymakers, working to resolve potential mission impacts before adverse proposals become laws or regulations and supporting proposals that benefit the military mission and sustainability.
Their key activities include:
- Monitoring and reporting on state legislative and regulatory activities that could affect installations’ abilities to perform their missions.
- Developing consolidated Army and DOD responses to state and federal regulators.
- Engaging state legislators, federal and state regulators, and non-governmental organizations to advance Army and DOD interests.
- Sustaining military readiness by maintaining strategic partnerships with state and federal agencies.
In FY20, the REEOs reviewed more than 16,000 legislative actions and more than 3,200 regulatory actions and engaged more than 200 state and federal agencies.
