GALVESTON, Texas — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District continues to monitor rainfall accumulations for possible changes in flood stages or impacts to Corps facilities including the Brazos River and San Bernard River due to recent heavy rainfall.

No flood impact is predicted according to USACE Galveston District officials based on National Weather Service assessments, and readings taken along the rivers' in-stream flood gauges and at the Brazos River floodgates.

Additionally, as of 7 a.m., March 21, rainfall accumulation reports from the USACE Fort Worth District indicate no upstream lake is forecast to fill its flood pool to more than about 20 percent of capacity according to the USACE Southwestern Division Readiness and Operations Office. The flood water stored in the Fort Worth District lakes will be control released to ensure no adverse affects in the downstream areas.

The USACE Galveston District will continue to monitor water flow along Brazos and San Bernard rivers and partner with adjacent local, state, and federal agencies to help ensure the safety and flood risk reduction of communities along the Texas coast.
