The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers provides environmental technical support to agencies worldwide under the Interagency and International Services - Environmental (IIS-E) Program.
The IIS-E program provides a multitude of professional services and technical products to non-Department of War (DOW) federal agencies, state and local governments, tribal nations, private U.S. firms, international organizations, and foreign governments.
Range of Services:
Assistance can vary from providing highly specific technical advice to complete program management services. Some examples of IIS-E work include:
- Dismantling reactors on behalf of the Department of Energy (DOE)
- Cost estimates and real estate actions in support of environmental projects
- Ecosystem restoration for non-DOW federal agencies, not currently using civil works authorities and appropriations
- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) brownfield work
- Remedial activities addressing hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste (HTRW) for non-DOW federal agencies (not including the U.S. EPA Superfund Program)
- Great Lakes Restoration Initiative activities using Economy Act funds
- Investigation and remediation of abandoned mine sites
