      <title>Eagle Watch Event at General Dean Recreation Area</title>

      <description>CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host the annual Eagle Watch event at the General Dean Recreation Area between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 30th, 2021. The World Bird Sanctuary will have a live Bald Eagle on display for public viewing in a heated tent. Please visit any time during these hours to help prevent large gatherings. The event will be different from years prior and be a meet and greet style event. Masks will be required when entering the tent. The General Dean Recreation Area is also one of the best spots around Carlyle Lake to view Bald Eagles in their natural habitat. Those attending the event are encouraged to bring a mask, binoculars or spotting scope, and dress accordingly for the weather as it is an outdoor event.

      <description>CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will be performing boundary maintenance work from December 14, 2020 through January 15, 2021 on multiple sections of the boundary line at Carlyle Lake. The boundary line maintenance work will consist of uniformed Park Rangers and volunteers walking the boundary lines, replacing signposts, identifying encroachments on government property, inspecting mowing permits, and clearing brush along the boundary line. The maintenance work is performed annually during the winter months when vegetation is at a minimum.  Maintenance is necessary in order to maintain a visible boundary line and to protect the public lands at Carlyle Lake.  &lt;br/&gt;

Lake Shelbyville Trail Closures for Firearm Deer Seasons
Lake Shelbyville- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville would
like to remind public land users of upcoming trail closure dates. Camp
Camfield, General Dacey Mountain Bike Trail, and the Illini Trail are all
closed to any non-hunting users or activities for the duration of first and
second firearm deer season as well as muzzleloader season. Trails do not
close for archery deer season.
2020 Firearm Deer Season Dates:
First Firearm Deer Season - November 20-22, 2020
Second Firearm Deer Season - December 3-6, 2020
Muzzleloader Deer Season - December 11-13, 2020

a successful year in 2020 with campsite utilization rates up almost 20%. The

      <description>CARLYLE LAKE – Carlyle Lake offers a variety of late summer hunting opportunities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources work together to manage public lands and waters at Carlyle Lake. More than 10,000 acres of public lands are open to public hunting to which all-current Illinois game laws and regulations are in effect. All hunters are required to sign in and out daily and record harvest at the nearest hunter sign in box. Access areas are conveniently located around the lake to provide parking and access to public lands. Several wildlife food plots have been planted around the lake. Plots consist of various crops including sunflowers, corn, and other row crops.&lt;br/&gt;

The pool elevation is 11.28 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The level as of 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 was 610.98 feet NVGD. The discharge rate was 1990 cubic feet per second (cfs) and the inflow was 820 cfs.&lt;br/&gt;
