      <title>Kanopolis Dam Project Extended to Enhance Downstream Protection; Lake Levels Rise as Gates Close</title>
      <link>https://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Media/News-Releases/Article/4463717/kanopolis-dam-project-extended-to-enhance-downstream-protection-lake-levels-ris/</link>
      <description>The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, has announced an extension to the major outlet channel repair project at Kanopolis Dam. The project will now include the placement of additional riprap downstream to increase erosion protection, with an expected completion date in July.

This significant repair project, which addresses issues identified in a 2020 inspection, has been underway to fix erosion and other damages in the outlet channel. The initial work involved replacing existing riprap and addressing the underlying geology that contributed to erosion since the dam's completion in 1948.

Although the channel work is complete, this new phase adds another layer of riprap downstream from the outlet channel to provide enhanced stability.

      <description>SAN JUAN, P.R. — The South Atlantic Division’s FY26 Leadership Development Program (LDP) participants stepped into a fully immersive leadership laboratory during their April 13-16, 2026, visit to the Corps of Engineers Caribbean District, where four days of training were transformed into a hands‑on practicum in communication, decision‑making, and mission execution in a complex operating environment. This marks the second LDP class to train with the Caribbean District this year, underscoring how USACE’s newest district is rapidly becoming a hub for leadership development and mission-learning across the South Atlantic Division.&lt;br/&gt;

      <title>BSE Yard Expansion</title>
      <link>https://www.mvp.usace.army.mil/Missions/Regulatory/Public-Notices/Article/4462334/bse-yard-expansion/</link>
      <description>The applicant is requesting a DA permit to discharge fill material into 1.50 acres of wetlands for the purpose of expanding an existing utility
materials storage yard. Impacted wetlands on site consist of a low-quality shallow marsh community dominated by invasive plant species. Expanding the yard would support active and near-term electric transmission construction projects undertaken by the American Transmission Company in the Green Bay and Port of Green Bay industrial area. The expansion would provide sufficient space for the staging, handling, and secure storage of large electric transmission materials, including transformers, steel monopoles, conductor reels, and associated hardware necessary to construct, rebuild, and maintain regional high-voltage transmission infrastructure.&lt;br/&gt;
