Director of Contracting - Acting

Colonel Christine A. Beeler became the Deputy Director of Contracting for the USACE on 2 August 2017 and became the Acting Director of Contracting on of 1 October 2017. As such Colonel Beeler supports the Head of the Contracting Activity as the Command Principal Assistant Responsible for Contracting, with all delegable Head of the Contracting Activity duties, exercising acquisition authority over three Principal Assistants Responsible for Contracting, nine Regional Contracting Chiefs, and four Center Contracting Chiefs. The Directorate of Contracting supports the 33,000 Civilian employees, and 700 Military personnel providing project management and construction support for Military Programs, Civil Works, Real Estate, and Research and Development.

Prior to her arrival at Headquarters USACE, Colonel Beeler served as the Commander of the 414th Contracting Support Brigade and the Principal Assistant Responsible for Contracting – Africa. A subordinate command of Army Material Command’s Expeditionary Contracting Command located, the 414th CSB delivered readiness through effective contracting solutions for the Army team in Africa.

Colonel Beeler hails from Old Saybrook, Connecticut and received her commission as a second lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps through the Army ROTC program at Boston University in 1991, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Her previous key assignments include 501st Corps Support Group Logistics Officer (S4), Uijongbu, South Korea; Commander, 595th Maintenance Company, Songnam, South Korea; Contracting Officer, Doha, Qatar; Assistant Product Manager PATRIOT and MEADS, Huntsville, AL; Professor of Program Management and Course Director, Army Acquisition Basic Course, Huntsville, AL; Battalion Commander, Army Contracting Command – Kuwait, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Contracting Operations Staff Officer, Expeditionary Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, AL; and Executive Officer to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Procurement, Army Staff, Pentagon.

Colonel Beeler has master’s degrees from Bowie State University, Jacksonville State University, Webster University and the Army War College. She is also a graduate of the Command and General Staff College.

Her military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (6 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. She is airborne qualified and earned the Army Staff Badge.
