The Construction Waste Diversion and Mitigation Center of Expertise in Sustainability (CXS) serves to enhance the knowledge base and implementation of Net Zero Waste concepts throughout USACE in support of our stakeholders. Net Zero Waste is defined by the Army as "An Installation that reduces, reuses and recovers waste streams, converting them to resource values with zero solid waste disposed of at landfills." In this context the Waste CXS is available to support stakeholders through all phases of design, procurement and construction of projects and the demolition of excess facilities. The team is actively engaged in providing training USACE-wide through webinars and other formats and is available to help assist in achieving measurable waste reduction. Related to these efforts, this CXS works with the Waste to Energy CXS to derive benefit from remaining waste streams by producing energy.
