Brooklyn Battery Tunnel Work Continues

Soldiers from the 249th Prime Power Battalion perform a site inspection with employees from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to determine the best way to connect generator power to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel ventilation tower. Coast Guard sailors hook up additional pumps to assist in dewatering the tunnel as well. The Corps is concentrating effort at 11 critical locations in NY as determined by local officials. The sites include Battery Underpass/West St. Underpass, Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, Queens Midtown Tunnel, Rockaway Wastewater Treatment Plant, Passaic Valley Sewage, South Ferry Station, Jersey City PATH train station, World Trade Center site, 14th St. Tunnel, 53rd St. Tunnel and Montague Street Tunnel. Pumping is underway at all locations at a rate of 116,000 gallons of water per minute. Also available in high definition.
