    Chandler Sturn works on a problem-solving puzzle during a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) event at the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville Oct. 6. Thirty teens rotated through four stations of problem-solving puzzles set up by the engineers. By participating in the problem-solving puzzles, the teens had a better understanding of what it takes to have a future in a STEM career.

    Huntsville Center fosters interest in STEM for Redstone youth

    The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville welcomed more than 30 teens and staff from the Redstone Youth Center Oct. 6, for a presentation on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) concepts.

    Sarah Wise, Corps regulatory specialist, accepts the district’s award of appreciation from Megagenesis director, Dr. Zke Zimmerman, presented to recognize the district’s consistent support at the annual event. Corps volunteers spent the day speaking with Savannah area students about internships and careers with the Corps at the event held Feb. 28 at Sol C. Johnson High School in Savannah. The event aims to promote a college-going culture by providing college and career information to students and parents, according to the website

    Kids on the Land: A hands on STEM experience

    DALLAS - Teachers are always looking for ways to capture their students' interest and to make the learning process fun and exciting. The "Kids on the Land" (KoL) program has found a way to do just that. They've moved the classroom to the great outdoors and have implemented a hands-on learning experience to teach student's science, math and land management practices.
