    Spotlight on Alex Webb, Assistant District Counsel, St. Paul District

    SAINT PAUL - Alex Webb collaborates with engineers, biologists, and other experts to keep communities safe from flood risk posed by several major river systems within the boundaries of the St. Paul District of the Army Corps of Engineers. Since the 1970s, and more recently in response to record-breaking floods of 2011 on the Souris River, the Corps has constructed levees and conducted studies to evaluate water supply and flood control options. Most recently, Alex has advised his team on a multi-phase flood control project on the Souris River that will provide protection to adjacent North Dakota communities.
  • Spotlight on Janis Millete, Seattle District

    SEATTLE - Janis Millete is part of a team that keeps Chief Joseph Dam, the second-largest hydropower dam in the nation, running. The dam generates enough power for the Seattle metropolitan area, home to over half of Washington's population. Millete provided legal review and guidance for the $160-million contract to ensure the generators that power 27 house-size turbines remain maintained over the next eight years.

    My Hurricane Laura Deployment Experience

    Working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given me a lot of opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself. Most recently, I was deployed down to Lafayette, Louisiana, along with several other USACE teammates, and we were assigned to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s temporary housing mission.

    Fort Worth District Teammate and TX Air National Guard Member: Mandy Waters - getting the job done with excellence wherever she serves

    For Mandy Waters, being an administrative officer with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has turned out to be a dream come true… So much so, she longed to return to her team in the Real Estate Division while she was deployed as part of the Texas Air National Guard (TXANG) to Qatar. Yes, not only does she manage the administrative responsibilities for one of the largest divisions in the district with over 150 personnel, the admin officer/Tech Sgt. recently returned from a six-month deployment to Al Udeid Air Base where she was part of the command support staff for the 379th Expeditionary Mission Support Group in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Freedom’s Sentinel.

    New Supplemental Program Manager, Programs Management Branch

    Simmerman began his career as a Civil Engineer in the Survey Section, where he completed a year and a half “intern” rotational assignment rotating through various Memphis District Offices. Andy has also worked on the Mississippi River Channel Improvement Project and has served over four years as a Project Manager working on projects in Eastern Arkansas, mainly the Grand Prairie Project and White River Comprehensive Study, as well as the St. Johns New Madrid Project.
