    Army Corps Navigation Mission Part of Baltimore’s Continued Maritime Heritage

    Baltimore is historically a port city with a rich maritime history and the Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District’s navigation mission plays a large part in that continued heritage. While the District maintains over 290 miles of federal navigable channels within the Susquehanna River watershed through its navigation mission, support to the Port of Baltimore is a key aspect of that mission.

    PMO, USACE partner to rebuild Tyndall

    After Hurricane Michael hit Tyndall Air Force Base in October 2018, the Air Force and Army forged a partnership with a single vision in mind--to build the “Installation of the future.” The Tyndall Project Management Office is rebuilding the base and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers became an important ally as the rebuild moved forward. With crucial partners like the USACE working alongside the PMO, Tyndall is on track to become a 21st century leader for the Air Force.

    USACE responds to Lake Ontario flooding

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District, technical field teams have visited 13 Lake Ontario coast sites in response to emergency flood efforts. New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo formally requested Corps of Engineers assistance on May 9 and initiated additional interagency coordination to supplement the state’s emergency response to record water levels.

    Emergency permit fortifies Pacific Coast Highway

    CARLSBAD, Calif. – An emergency authorization issued by the Los Angeles District’s Carlsbad Regulatory Office allowed the City of Carlsbad to place about 1,200 tons of stone and other material along a 270-foot segment of shoreline along the Pacific Coast Highway, stabilizing the shoreline and protecting a vital roadway along Southern California’s coast.
