The proposed plan to build a dam was a response to the wet season and steep mountain slopes that cause runoff from heavy rain and fill the stream quickly, flooding many surrounding areas.

  • State Park trails near Folsom Lake to close for improvements

    On Thursday, November 4, 2021, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will begin improvements to the Pioneer Express Trail from the south side of the Beals Point entrance road south to the American River Bike Trail. Once improvements are complete, the district will make similar improvements to the nearby Beals Point to Granite Bay multi-use trail from the north side of the Beals Point entrance road to Granite Bay.
