    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), managing restoration efforts at the Former Waikoloa Maneuver Area (WMA), South Kohala, Island of Hawaii, will provide a status update regarding ongoing environmental investigations and restoration activities at the next WMA Restoration Advisory Board meeting, or RAB.
  • USACE, City and County of Honolulu invite public comment on Ala Wai Canal Flood Risk Management Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the City and County of Honolulu (CCH) invite public comment on the preparation of the Ala Wai Canal Flood Risk Management General Re-evaluation Study (Ala Wai FRM GR), Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) now through May 8, 2023. The Ala Wai FRM GR study is looking at ways to reduce physical and economic damages due to riverine flooding and to enhance life safety and community resilience throughout the entire Ala Wai watershed. Community involvement is crucial to ensuring the success of the Ala Wai FRM GR Study as it enters its next critical phase. To maximize community involvement, USACE in partnership with the CCH, will hold a virtual public meeting, Monday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m. to present the prospective plan, answer questions, and accept oral comments. The virtual meeting format will include an overview of the project, the NEPA/HEPA processes, and present the results of the plan formulation process to-date, including development, evaluation, and comparison of the final array of alternatives.   • USACE seeks public input for Honolulu Harbor modification feasibility study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District (USACE), in partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), is hosting two public scoping meetings, March 30 and 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., to seek input on the preparation of the Honolulu Harbor Modification Feasibility Study to address potential impacts with improving the Honolulu Harbor Federal navigation channel.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District welcomes new leadership Wednesday, June 24 as Lt. Col. Eric S. Marshall assumes command from Lt. Col. Kathryn P. Sanborn during a modified change of command ceremony being held at Fort Shafter’s Palm Circle Gazebo. Marshall, who most recently served as the deputy commander, 130th Engineer Brigade at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, is the 72nd commander in the District's 115 year history.
  • Honolulu District hydraulic engineer named 2019 USACE Climate Champion Award winner

    Honolulu District’s Jessica Podoski, a hydraulic engineer in the Civil Works Technical Branch, Engineering and Construction Division, is the national U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Climate Champion of 2019 award winner for her work in preparing climate change and resilience studies in the Pacific Region. In a May 12 email announcing the award, Kathleen White, chair of the USACE Headquarters Climate Preparedness & Resilience (CPR) Community of Practice (CoP) said of Podoski that, “…Individually and as team members on other projects, you have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, creativity, innovation, and leadership in incorporating climate preparedness and resilience into your projects, and exemplify the best of the USACE.”

Thomas Tickner, commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) – Pacific Ocean Division, toured the Alaska Airlines Center on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus on Tuesday. A portion of the arena was converted into an alternate care site capable of treating coronavirus patients.
