  • Corps prepares for dam inspection at Perry Lake

    PERRY, Kan. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Perry Lake will dewater the water control structures to perform a safety inspection beginning Aug. 17 through Sept. 1. The Outlet Park on both sides of the spillway will be closed to the public throughout this inspection. Dam safety inspections are a vital part of the Corps mission. Formal engineering inspections are performed every five years.
  • NR 17-009: Dale Hollow Dam Road closing for scheduled maintenance

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 14, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Dale Hollow Dam Road at the dam in Celina, Tenn., is closing 8 a.m. April 25 through 4 p.m. April 28, 2017 due to scheduled maintenance to inspect the spillway gates and trunnions.
  • Technical Services Dive Team inspects the Chicago Fish Barrier

    In a cooperative effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District and the Technical Services Dive Team, consisting of members from the Corps of Engineers Buffalo, New England, and Philadelphia, and Headquarters, dives were conducted to inspect the Chicago Fish Barrier and provide an overall condition assessment to Chicago District’s operation and maintenance teams. More specifically, the team was inspecting the condition of Barriers IIA and IIB and the parasitic structures located upstream and downstream of the barriers.
  • Corps completes initial dike inspection; resumes locking operations

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District found no areas of concern during initial, post-Hurricane Matthew inspections of Herbert Hoover Dike around Lake Okeechobee in South Florida. Operations have also resumed at the five navigation locks on the Okeechobee Waterway.
  • Corps completes pre-storm dike inspection

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District completed an inspection today of the Herbert Hoover Dike surrounding Lake Okeechobee in advance of potential impacts from Hurricane Matthew, currently making its way through the Caribbean. Staff with the Corps' South Florida Operations Office in Clewiston identified no new issues or areas of concern.

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2016) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that the section of State Highway 141/96 that crosses over Center Hill Dam will be closed to all traffic 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12-15, 2016 while engineers conduct an inspection.

  • Maintenance team repairs dewatered Chickamauga Lock

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (July 20, 2016) – Chickamauga Lock is empty and closed to navigation while maintenance crews inspect and make repairs to the miter gates, valves, bushings and other components normally submerged under more than 11 million gallons of water.
