    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will celebrate the completion of the Pool 2 wing dam modification project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 25, at Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, Minnesota, at 1 p.m. Lock and Dam 2 is located at 1350 Lock and Dam Road.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking comments on a bank stabilization study at the Sny Magill unit of Effigy Mounds National Monument, near Harpers Ferry, Iowa.
  • USACE signs MOA Agreement for Guajataca Dam Repairs

    SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Atlantic Division commander, Brigadier General Daniel Hibner, signed a Memorandum of Agreement on June 29, 2023, with the Puerto Rico Power Authority (PREPA), to initiate the permanent repairs of the Guajataca Dam in Isabela, Puerto Rico. The total estimated cost for this project is around $1 billion. The funds will be received from PREPA with funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Disaster Recovery Funds. It is estimated that the permanent repairs will benefit 1,000 people that live directly downstream of the dam and another 250,000 that receive water from the filtration plants in Guajataca, Quebradillas, Isabela, and the mountains of Aguadilla. Governor Pedro Pierluisi was present during the signing ceremony.
  • Ballistic missile defense program experts receive recognition

    Bret Styers and Carson Walker, USACE Ballistic Missile Defense Mandatory Center of Expertise (BMD MCX) employees, were both recognized with Army Civilian Achievement Medals for their efforts under the Sentinel Integrated Program Management Office while supporting the fielding of a strategic weapons system for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC).
  • Army Corps Philly District conducts Changes of Command ceremony

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District ushered in new leadership as Lt. Col. Jeffrey Beeman assumed command of the organization from Lt. Col. Ramon Brigantti during a July 7th ceremony in the Wanamaker Building's Crystal Tea Room in Center City Philadelphia. Beeman became the 62nd commander in the District's 157-year history.
