We are pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Andy Simmerman, Civil Engineer for Supplemental Program Manager, Programs Management Branch.

Simmerman began his career as a Civil Engineer in the Survey Section, where he completed a year and a half intern rotational assignment rotating through various Memphis District Offices. He has also worked on the Mississippi River Channel Improvement Project and has served over four years as a Project Manager working on projects in Eastern Arkansas, mainly the Grand Prairie Project and White River Comprehensive Study, as well as the St. Johns New Madrid Project. Simmerman volunteered in 2006 to serve a 120-day detail assignment in New Orleans, Louisiana to assist in the recovery post-Hurricane Katrina, which was number one Contiguous United States (CONUS) Mission for the U.S. Corps of Engineers (USACE) from 2005-2008.

His love for the work and ongoing USACE recovery efforts led Simmerman to stay for 720 days (two years) before returning to the Memphis District. Over his career, Simmerman served several detail assignments as the Channel Improvement Project Manager and most recently served as a project manager in Project Development Branch responsible for outreach to federal agencies in support of Memphis District’s "Work for Others Program."

Simmerman has a Master's in engineering management from Christian Brothers University (2009) and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering (BSCE) from the

(1999).

In his new position as the Supplemental Program Manager, Simmerman will provide leadership for and supervision of the Supplemental Program, providing program oversight of the Memphis District's large Supplemental Program execution, which totals over $300M, in a relatively short amount of time, as well as all future supplemental programs.

Congratulations again, Mr. Andy Simmerman, on your promotion!
