USACE Alaska District Operates the Moose Creek Dam
A large piece of ice grounded on the banks of the Chena River on May 3, days after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District ended its operation of the Moose Creek Dam to reduce flooding from ice jams along the Chena River. The agency operates the dam as part of the Chena River Lakes Flood Control Project to protect communities in the Fairbanks North Star Borough from seasonal floods.
