This tri-fold brochure is new and intended to help you with your Safety and Health Program. 

Civil Deployment for Active USACE Employees:
All USACE employees who are have received a tasker for Civil Deployment or are on a PRT are required to have an approved medical screening packet before deploying.  If the employee has received a medical clearance within the last two years, they do not need to complete a new form.  If the employee does not have a medical clearance or if their medical clearance is more than two years old, the employee should complete a new medical screening packet in ENGLink. 

The employee will be required to update their personal data sheet in ENGLink and then open the medical screening packet in ENGLink.  The employee will have to make a choice between office or field work and complete the respective medical screening packet.  After completing the information, the employee will be prompted to print a copy and hit submit.  Once the form is submitted it is encrypted and can not be accessed by anyone but the medical service provider.

The medical service provider will review the medical screening packet.  The medical service provider may contact the employee for follow-up questions.  When the medical service provider has provided a medical clearance code, they will enter it into ENGLink.  ENGLink will generate an email to the employee stating that a code has been issued and telling them to enter their personal data sheet to print the medical approval code. 

When an employee has been medically approved, they will need to confirm their immunizations for Tetanus/Diphtheria and Hepatitis A are current or obtain a current Tetanus/Diphtheria and Hepatitis A immunization.

Civil Deployment for Rehired Annuitants:
Rehired Annuitant will be contacted by the program manager for further instructions.

Military Deployment for Active USACE Employees (to include Rehired Annuitants):
See the TransAtlantic Center webpage (http://www.tac.usace.army.mil//deploymentcenter/CIVILIAN.ASP) for the most current information.  This information does change based on lessons learned from theater, so check it before each deployment. 

Immunizations required for military deployment will depend on where you are deploying to.  As a general rule, the immunizations required by the country can be found on the Center for Disease Control (CDC) website on their “Travel” webpage (http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/default.aspx).  The Department of Defense or U.S. Army will include other immunizations which are not part of the immunizations recommended by CDC. You should check the USACE Deployment Webpage for the final list of immunizations.

Your mission is to work safely and we want to help you do that.  We have prepared standardized checklists, templates and forms for you to use.  They are not all-inclusive but are intended to contain basic programmatic requirements that you need to look for.  They can be used to develop, assess or inspect your equipment, programs or other Safety Office related areas.

The process to be followed when when requesting a waiver or a variance from a requirement contained in the EM 385-1-1, Safety and Health Requirements Manual is found in Appendix N, EM 385-1-1.  All non-USACE (other DOD) Components must submit their requests through their chain of command. 

The process to be followed for requesting an official interpretation of a requirement contained in the EM 385-1-1, USACE Safety and Health Requirements manual can be found in Appendix M, EM 385-1-1. Non-USACE Components must submit their requests for interpretations through their chain of command.

Unofficial requests for interpretations/clarifications of requirements from local Safety and Health Offices may be made via email or telephone.  However, answers provided via this mode will be considered general guidance, not official interpretations.

USACE Safety Office will NOT accept requests for official interpretations from parties outside the USACE structure.
