Major General William T. Grisoli was assigned as the Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, United States Army Corps of Engineers, on 17 December 2009. From 2006-2009, he served as the Director, Program Analysis and Evaluation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8.
As the Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, General Grisoli is responsible for a $10 billion program. He exercises staff supervision over civil works activities of 8 engineer division and 38 districts nationwide, employing 300 officers and 24,888 civilian employees who operate and maintain civil infrastructure valued at $125 billion, and includes more than 609 dams, 4,330 recreation areas, over 12,000 miles of commercial inland waterways and approximately 926 harbors. He serves as principal advisor to the Chief of Engineers and the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works and directly interfaces with members of Congress on civil works issues and programs. General Grisoli is responsible for emergency response missions for civil disasters and FEMA support.
General Grisoli’s command assignment include B Company, 19th Engineer Battalion, 194th Armored Brigade, Fort Knox, KY; 41st Engineer Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY and led the battalion during Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti; 555th Engineer Group, Fort Lewis, WA; Northwest Division, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Portland, OR, and later, North Atlantic Division, New York, NY.
Staff assignments include tours as project engineer in the Far East District with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Korea; deputy resident engineer and deputy district commander in the New Orleans District; assistant division engineer, 2nd Infantry Division in Camp Casey, Korea; battalion operations officer, 15th Engineer Battalion, 9th Infantry Division at Fort Lewis; systems integrator and executive officer in the Force Development Directorate, G-3; Director of Installation Support, Camp Doha, Kuwait; Deputy CENTCOM Engineer and Deputy Director of Army Transformation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3.
General Grisoli is a 1976 graduate of the United States Military Academy and earned a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1983. In 1997, General Grisoli graduated from the Industrial College of the Army Forces. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
